About Us
We are a vibrant group of more than 60 women who gather each Tuesday evening to sing and learn the musical artform of barbershop harmony. Made up of women of all ages and backgrounds, during the day we are mothers, nurses, business professionals, teachers, bus drivers, lawyers, engineers, etc. But on Tuesday evenings we are just "us," having a great time perfecting our craft by preparing for entertaining performances, shows, and competitions sponsored by the international organization.
Since our first meeting in 1945, the Kansas City Chorus has had a long tradition of striving for excellence in the craft of barbershop-style singing. We are the oldest active chapter in the International organization and were Champions of the first Regional Competition in 1952, held in Topeka, Kansas.
If you like to sing you are invited to visit the Kansas City Chorus rehearsals on Tuesday nights. Sitting in on one of our rehearsals is the perfect way to find out more about us, and expand your horizons. Discover a place you can thrive - a place women can connect through the love of music and have a great time in the process. You'll have the opportunity to hear us perform four-part, a cappella harmony - to take part and join us on the risers. Come experience music, friendship, and fun for which the Kansas City Chorus is famous!.
