Sensation! 3

Sensation! is very happy to represent the Kansas City Chorus and RiverSong Chorus.

     Tenor - Sue Smith

                         Lead - Barb Patton

                                              Baritone - Ruth Anne Decker

                                                                       Bass - Jennifer (Jen) Manka

Sensation! quartet, formed in July 2011, has a combined eighty-five years of singing four part a capella through the Sweet Adelines experience.  With a great love for the Barbershop Art Form, Sensation! performs for parties, numerous celebrations and other gatherings, as well as singing the National Anthem at various events around the Kansas City area.  All are members of Sweet Adelines International, an organization of a cappella quartets and choruses dedicated to singing close four part harmony in the barbershop style.

Throughout the year, Sensation! offers amusing and imaginative musical entertainment with a mixture of love songs, doo wop, patriotic, and  60's and 70's music along with the traditional barbershop music.  During the holidays, Sensation! genuinely enjoys spreading joy and laughter almost every weekend leading up to the Christmas Season.

Sensation! is very proud of its most recent accomplishment as the 2016 8th Place Sweet Adelines Region 5 Quartet.  They sing for crowds large and small, sharing their love of music for birthdays, anniversaries, any special occasion, as well as charity fundraisers.  If you are looking for fun and creative musical entertainment, the a capella stylings of Sensation! will certainly fit the bill.  Feel free to contact them to sing at your next special event at sensationquartet@gmail.com or at 816-223-4417.

 Sue SmithSue Smith - Tenor

Sue Smith has always been surrounded by singing, and joined Sweet Adelines in 2000.  She was previously a member of the Kansas City Chorus, and is currently the Tenor Section Leader with the RiverSong Chorus in St. Joseph, Missouri.  Sensation! is her third quartet.  Sue is married to Dan, and they have two wonderful eighteen year old twins, Benjamin and Sarah.

Barb Patton Barb Patton - Lead

Barb Patton has been a member of Sweet Adelines since 1982.  She has also been a member of the Kansas City Chorus since 1986 serving in numerous administrative positions over the years.  In 2011, Barb was awarded the Sweet Adelines Region 7 Garee Rogers Award for Distinguished Administrative Service to the region, her chorus, and to Sweet Adelines International.  Barb and her husband Mark have two children, Brian and Emily, and five grandchildren, Renae, Mackenzie, Lance, Eli, and Emmasue.

Ruth Ann DeckerRuth Anne Decker - Baritone

Ruth Anne Decker first joined Sweet Adelines in 1987 after attending chorus rehearsals with her mother since before she was born.  After a break for college and getting started in her career, Ruth Anne joined the Kansas City Chorus in 1994, and has been a member ever since.  Her love of quartet singing has resulted in performances with several different quartets and octets over the years, singing either Tenor or Baritone.  She is married to Todd, and they have a daughter, Ashley who is fifteen.

Jen Manka Jen Manka - Bass

Jen Manka joined Sweet Adelines with the Kansas City Chorus in 2010.  She started out singing in choirs and small groups, competing and earning medals as well as performing in musical productions starting as early as the second grade and continuing through her college years.  Jen has a background in Opera, Jazz, and Madrigal, but her favorite musical art form has always been a capella singing. After college, Jen haunted the Karaoke circuit before becoming a DJ for a few years.  After the birth of her son in 1992, she concentrated on work and being a Mom, until a friend several states away told her about Sweet Adelines.  She is now married to Keith, her son Caleb is nineteen, and her stepdaughter Athena, is fifteen. Sensation! is her second quartet as a Sweet Adeline.
